On the banks of the Rufiji River in the heart of the Nyerere National Park.

8 open-fronted stone and thatched cottages – 5 standard cottages on the riverside and 3 suites on the hillside – that all have private veranda and en-suite bathroom. Facilities include a swimming pool.

Activities

Game drives in 4×4 open vehicles, boat safaris and fishing on the Rufiji River, walking safaris and fly-camping.

Wildlife

Big herds of elephants and buffalo, giraffe, zebra and several species of antelope roam in the plains, while plenty of hippos, crocodiles and water birds can be found in the Rufiji River. Predators are abundant and include lions, leopards and about a third of the African wild dogs remaining in the world.

Why

A first-class, intimate retreat overlooking the Rufiji River. Built by the famous conservationist Richard Bonham, who started walking safaris in this area in the 1980s. The Nyerere National Park is the largest national park in Tanzania, featuring an incredible diversity of habitats and wildlife. One of the best places in Africa where to see the endangered African wild dog. Water activities are at their best.
