Uganda

Where to stay

Tourism development in Uganda is relatively new and the range of accommodations, as well as their quality standard and level of sophistication, can not be compared with other African destinations. That said high-end camps and lodges such as Clouds Mountain or Sanctuary Forest in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park are as good as their equals in Kenya or in Tanzania, compared to which they are also considerably cheaper. However the cost of transports and of the gorilla trekking permits is quite high and affects the overall cost of the trip. Many camps and lodges are relatively small, run by the owners or in partnership with the local communities, and built according to ecological criteria. In most cases they afford spectacular views over the cloud forests of Uganda or they are located in the heart of national parks.
