Laikipia

A small and intimate family run lodge, refined in the details, overlooking a natural waterhole with views of Mount Kenya.

Position

South-east of Laikipia Plateau inside the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy, spreading over an area of 260 km2.

Rooms

4 tents raised on wooden decks with private veranda, living room with fireplace and en-suite bathroom. A cottage and a private villa are perfect for groups or families. Facilities include a swimming pool.

Activities

Game drives in 4×4 open vehicles in the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy. Walking safaris in the conservancy and in the Ngare Ndare Forest. Horse riding, camel riding, quad biking, biplane and helicopter scenic flights. Visit to the local Maasai village. Flight excursions to encounter Pokot and Rendile people. Mobile camping safaris in northern Kenya.

Wildlife

The concession is home to the highest concentration of Grevy’s zebras in the world and more than 130 white and black rhinos, about 10% of Kenya’s entire population. About 70 species of mammals – including elephants, buffalo, giraffes, lions, leopards and cheetahs – and over 400 bird species were identified.

Why

The warm and friendly atmosphere of the lodge, owned by the Roberts family, three generations of safaris in Kenya. Lewa and its successful history: first a cattle ranch, since 1983 a sanctuary for the protection of the rhino. Game drives and walking safaris to discover the landscapes and wildlife of Lewa, in addition to the other activities and excursions offered by the Roberts in northern Kenya.
