Thanks to the compact size, to the average altitude over 1,000 mt and to the proximity to the equator, Rwanda has a tropical climate relatively constant and temperate all year round. Temperatures and rainfalls depend on altitude, that drops from West to East, with the climate changing from humid and wet to semi-arid moving East. Although it is considered a year round destination, the best times for a safari in Rwanda are from June to September and from December to February, during the dry season. In particular, during this time of the year the conditions for the mountain gorillas trekking in the rainforests of Virunga Mountains are ideal. Conversely, the best time for the chimpanzees and other primates trekking in Nyungwe forest is the green season, from March to May. This is a general indication, supposing this is your first safari in Rwanda and that your priority is game viewing. Every season has its charm though, colours and nuances that make it unique and offers the opportunity of different encounters and experiences. "A stunning little country, and an emerging travel destination in East Africa, where a dark past lives together with ancient volcanoes and lush forests inhabited by gorillas."
