Greystoke Mahale

Mahale Mountains National Park

Set on the shores of Lake Tanganyika and backed by the Mahale Mountains, it is one of the most unique camps in East Africa.

Position

On a sandy beach lined with palm trees, overlooking the Lake Tanganyika, in the heart of Mahale Mountains National Park.

Rooms

6 thatched bandas made of recycled materials with private veranda and en-suite bathroom.

Activities

Chimpanzee trekking, forest walks, birding, boating, kayaking, swimming, snorkeling and fishing.

Wildlife

While chimpanzees are the main attraction, there are eight more primate species to be seen in the park. The primary forest is home to other mammals like bushbuck and bushpig, and it is also a heaven for butterflies and 355 bird species.

Why

Greystoke is exotic, inspiring, romantic and unique in every sense. A truly remote paradise: not easy to get there, but the journey is part of the experience. The Mahale Mountains host one of the largest populations of wild chimpanzees remaining. One of the best places in Africa for observing chimpanzees, but also for just sitting-back and relaxing.
