Richard’s River Camp

Maasai Mara Conservancies

A small and intimate tented camp in “Out of Africa” style, but with a contemporary twist.

Position

On the banks of the Njageteck River inside the Mara North Conservancy, spreading over an area of 300 km2 north-west of the Maasai Mara National Reserve.

Rooms

7 spacious and tastefully decorated tents with private veranda and en-suite bathroom.

Activities

Day and night game drives in 4×4 open vehicles and walking safaris in the conservancy. Visit to the nearby Maasai village. Scenic flights in hot-air balloons and day trips to Lake Victoria.

Wildlife

The conservancy hosts the typical wildlife of Maasai Mara, including all of the “Big Five” and many species of antelope. It’s renowned for the concentration of big cats, including lions, leopards and cheetahs. Wildebeests, zebras and Thomson’s gazelles are present throughout the year, but more numerous when the “Great Migration” reaches the Maasai Mara.

Why

The refined style and friendly atmosphere of the camp, owned by the Roberts family, three generations of safaris in Kenya. The Mara North Conservancy: night game drives and walking safaris in one of the richest in wildlife conservancies of the Maasai Mara. The Mara Elephant Project, the project initiated by Richard and Liz Roberts to protect the elephants of the Maasai Mara. The encounter with the Maasai people.
