Malawi still sees little tourism compared to the other Southern African countries. However in the past decade some luxury eco-lodges have been opened on the shores and the islands of Lake Malawi, the country’s main touristic destination, as well as in the Liwonde National Park and in the Majete Wildlife Reserve. The secluded location, the unspoilt setting and the family-friendly approach of these lodges make them perfect for a relaxing beach holiday, for an adventurous yet comfortable family safari or for a romantic honeymoon. In addition to this, people of Malawi are well known for their smiles and warm hospitality, from which the country was nicknamed “The warm heart of Africa”.
