Majete Wildlife Reserve

Set in a private concession within the park, it is a minimalistic and comfortable lodge with beautiful views of the Shire River.

Position

On the banks of the Shire River, in a private concession of 70 km² inside the Majete Wildlife Reserve.

Rooms

8 chalets with en-suite bathroom and private veranda. Facilities include a swimming pool.

Activities

Game drives in 4×4 open vehicles, boat and walking safaris, visits to local schools and villages.

Wildlife

The reserve is home to elephants, black rhino, buffalo, zebra, several antelope species, lions, leopards, spotted hyena and over 300 species of bird.

Why

A minimalistic and contemporary lodge, built and managed with an eco-friendly approach. Destroyed by poaching in the 1980’s and 1990’s, from 2003 wildlife has been reintroduced and Majete is now the only “Big Five” reserve in Malawi. The lodge offers many activities including boat safaris on the Shire River.
